When you cringe at the price of ink cartridges…

print your assignments on the “fast draft” or “ink saver” setting. I know this seems like a no-brainer, but the times when you are in hurry to print out a huge paper are the times you often forget to press these extra buttons. If you remind yourself with a sticky-note that says “ink saver setting!” on your printer, you will make your expensive cartridges last as long as possible.

  1. Where do you find the "fast draft" or "ink saver" settings? This is a really good tip and I want to make use of it, but I've never seen those settings before. Thanks!

  2. Good question! When you go to print out a document and hit "print," there is usually an option for "printer properties" or "advanced settings" before you start printing. The name of the ink-saving setting varies depending on the brand of your printer. My HP printer my boyfriend's Canon printer both have the option filed under "print quality" and I select "fast," but it might be different on other brands. The bottom line is that you need to look for the setting on your computer, not on your printer.
